“What do you want to be when you grow up?” is a question all of us have been asking at least once over the span of our lives. Unlike many others I have met, my answer has always remained consistent – “I want to be a Certified Child Life Specialist.”
When I first learned of this field at the young age of 8 I had no idea the whirlwind of a journey it was going to lead me through. I started this blog in September 2015 as a way to document my experiences, trials, and tribulations as I work toward achieving my lifelong dream of working with children facing hospitalization and other forms of trauma.
My name is Alexx and I am a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) living in Toronto, ON, Canada.
So, welcome! Whether you are an aspiring Child Life Specialist, newly certified like myself, a working CLS, or completely unsure about what you want to be when you grow up, I’m glad you’re here.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments sections on my posts or email me privately at firstname.lastname@example.org! I look forward to getting to know my fellow Child Life students and hopefully provide a spark of hope or inspiration in those that find themselves stuck.
Happy reading and remember that the most exciting adventures rarely follow a straight line.
